Construction Methodology
(Monostrand Unboneded Post Tensioning System)
- Forming shall be made as per the forming plan issued by PTSI. There is nothing special except the wooden
sides required for drilling holes of 20mm diameter so that the cables can be passed through it at required places at certain height as per pt detail.
- Do not provide camber to any of the PT Element (PTSlab or PTBeam) without prior intimation to PTSI.
- Bottom steel/mesh is to be placed first for the slab as per the drawings. Chairs are placed as required.
- In case of beam, steel cage (stirrups with continuous steel only) is prepared as per regular practice with the detail provided without placing extra top steel. It is to be inserted in formwork. Support bars are fixed at certain intervals and heights as per detail provided.
- PT cable to be placed over the support bars in beam and chairs in case of slab.
- The wooden sides of beam or slab are marked and drilled at specific places. Anchorage assembly is fixed at the wooden side. The side is then fixed up to its place.
- Cable is passed through the assembly and the extra length kept beyond the side for stressing wherever required as per drawing.
- Final checking of the pt system by the engineer of ptsi on site. It is preferred that the steel detail got checked on site by the engineer from structural consultant as well.
- Electrical conduits must be placed after PT installation. ANY KIND OF ALTERATION IN PT CABLES ARE
STRICTLY PROHIBITED while placing electrical conduits.
- Concrete pouring as per the instruction of the engineer of PTSI on site. Concrete must be well compacted
around the anchorages with due care.
- Cubes are cast on site for 5 day and 28 day strength testing as per respective codal provisions. Certain cubes required to test between 5 to 7 days depending on the commitment of strength gain by concrete supplier in accordance with respective codal provisions.
- Stressing is commenced once the target strength (M25) is ensured through the cube testing.
- Stressing is performed as per stressing sequence already provided to the stressing personnel. Stressing
platforms must be ready on site as well as electricity supply must be arranged on the floor prior to stressing.
- Elongations are measured on site; stressing report is generated for our internal approval. Post-stressing status is conveyed to the Structural consultant for shuttering removal from PTSI. Stressing report is sent to the structural consultant for his record.
- Shuttering can be started for the successive floor above.
- Re-shoring shall be consciously provided below the lower floors (already constructed) up to two floors before commencing the concrete pouring on the successive floor above.
